Greeting Fellow Horse Folks!

My name is Beti Spangel and I am starting a new greeting card company called One Trick Pony.  Our line caters specifically to horse persons like yourselves, but with a twist.  We do not do beautiful photography or mystical-creature artwork.  That's nice, but not our thing.  Rather, our line is more like Mr. Ed meets The Far Side meets Shoebox Greetings.  Our cards are humorous without being overly silly, current and hip without being stupid.  I am working with a few cartoonists and also utilize a lot of old photographs.  This is where YOU come in!

I am looking for casual, candid, potentially funny photographs of horses with or without people.  I would prefer older photos (1950's-1970's), but am open to anything.  I have a stockpile of funny sayings and captions that need to be paired with a good photo.  The photo doesn't have to have an obvious "punch line;" that's for us to come up with.  It just has to be an interesting image.  So far I have gotten most of my photos from ebay, local flea markets and junk dealers, but I need more!  If you have any photos you think I would be interested in, I encourage you to e-mail me or, even better, scan the photos if you can so I can see them that way.

As we are a fledgling company, and not Hallmark or American Greetings, I am paying a minimal amount for photos.  However, I have numerous caption writers whom I have bought work from and each and every one of them is paid promptly and can vouch for my good business practices.  I have several cards that are getting ready to go to print and out into local stores, so we are really on a shoestring budget right now.  But we are ready to take the local tack stores by storm with this innovative niche market product!

I am willing to pay $5-$10 per photo (it must be the original photograph) and with that I purchase all rights to that photograph.  I will retain the copyright to the image to use under the name One Trick Pony Greeting Cards.  I am not getting into royalties or anything like that - a very straightforward transaction:  I buy the photo outright.  I will be happy, however, upon request, to credit the who/what/where of the photo on the back of the card, if you would like me to.  (Hey, if it were me, I'D want people to know it my horse on the front!)
