Horse has arthritis

Posted by gary brown at December 13. 2006

We have been offered a horse but the owner says it has arthritis and won't live long. How would you tell if he actually had arthritis?? He looks and moves normally.

You will most likly be able to tell when it gets really cold or after he has worked for a long period of time.   also, ask the owner if he is getting glucosumine or any joint suplements

The owner might be buting the horse. I would go with what the owner says because normally owners lie to con you into buying horses like that instead of telling things that might prevent you from buying the horse. If you really want to know talk  to a vet because he can run tests etc, to see if it does, and also there are special stretches you can do to help the horses arthritis.
