What breed is my horse?

Posted by Kara Williams at December 24. 2006

I just added Tory to my family, he is aprox. 6 months old. His coggins said he was a QH but there is another QH colt boarding at the ranch and he has completely different build then Tory, I have attatched a pic. He also seems to be gaited when he's running in the round pen he is very smooth. Any one has a good idea what he might be let me know :)

How tall is the foal?  It might be a Tennessee Walker crossed with Quarter Horse.

He is not very tall, I will will measure him and reply soon. It's funny he is as tall as the QH but Tory's legs are shorter so his body is thicker.

He looks like a Tennessee Walker to me.

He looks like a QH 2 me. I have a Tennessee Walker, and your foal doesnt even look like he could be 1/2 that. There are many variations in size and structure within breeds.

Maybe he could be an Appendix. My friend has one that looks very much like this foal, yet I have one who looks completely like a TB so you never know.

I would just stick to what the Coggins test says because those are usually very thorough tests.

It is probably just a cross.

assuming you have the mare, look back through her papers and looks for anything that isn't a qh.then ask the stallion's owners to see his papers or just ask if he is a pure wuarter horse.

Hmmm, I would agree with Somersault. Look through the papers. I'd do that.

I agree with Somersault too.
